In the 80s, Chlorophylle released a colorful fall and winter collection. Durable and made from eco-friendly materials, the clothes were a hit with fans of our brand. Charles Morin, a hunting and fishing enthusiast with a passion for our Quebec territories and a big fan of Chlorophylle clothing, bought our Mistral fleece in purple. This purchase marked the beginning of a true love story spanning over 40 years!

To mark the launch of our vintage fleece, Chlorophylle wanted to retrace the history of the sweater it's inspired by and, consequently, the man who inspired us to recreate it!

1985: Love at First Sight

Introduced to hunting and fishing as a child by his father, Charles Morin was already a connoisseur of outdoors clothing. At the age of 15, he decided to buy a Chlorophylle fleece to wear on his expeditions with his father. The Mistral fleece proved to be the perfect combination of softness and durability for braving the elements from Kuujjuaq and Killiniq to Pond Inlet near Baffin Bay. Charles spent his teenage years roaming our vast playgrounds, fishing for salmon and arctic char.

1992: A Souvenir of Home

At the age of 23, the adventurer began a forest engineering internship in Terrace, British Columbia, and took with him a symbol of home: his purple fleece. The Mistral tinted his stay with comfort, warmth, memories... and color!

2000: Backyard Adventures

In his thirties, Charles had the chance to pass on his love of the outdoors and hunting to his two sons, to whom he introduced the beauty of Quebec's landscapes. Meanwhile, the famous Mistral doesn't stay at the back of the closet: quite the contrary! While it's the perfect partner for trips to the Far North, it's also the perfect garment to accompany his daily activities, from the comfort of his own backyard. From landscaping to neighborhood hikes, Charles dons his famous fleece.

2020: Hand-me-down Comfort

40 years later, the Mistral violet fleece is still highly coveted in the Morin household. Now it's Charles' sons who are snatching it up to stay warm during their outdoor activities.

After so many years of love, the old fleece was finally showing the signs of its age. Seeing its fabric thinning, Charles wrote to Chlorophylle with a very special request.

Touched by his loyalty, and feeling the same passion for the heritage of this vintage garment, our production team decided to pull the Mistral out of its archives and create a new and improved version for release in its Autumn-Winter 2024 collection.

Answer the call of the past with our unisex Vintage fleece. It's designed for sustainable and retro fashion fans, inspired by the adventures and mythical explorations of the 1980s.
